Day 8 - Prayer & Fasting - Trials

Today's Scripture Passage: I Peter 1:6-7

6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Today's Scripture Message:

We’ve all heard the phrase “It’s all good”, none more true words spoken.  No matter what, it is exactly what it is and IT’S ALL GOOD.  Nothing you experience is without lesson, enlightenment and opportunity.  Flip the page on the negative view and be determined to see the side that is for you, that positive side that is always provisional of a vision that reaches way beyond the immediate, seeing past the distraction to the greater possibilities.

Prayer for the day:
Father, thank you!!! All glory and honor is yours and I offer you the highest praise, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
"That which causes us trials shall yield us triumph: and that which make our hearts ache shall fill us with gladness.  The only true happiness is to learn, to advance, and to improve: which could not happen unless we had commence with error, ignorance, and imperfection.  We must pass through the darkness, to reach the light."

 ~Albert Pike

Goal for the Day
Find the means and it will end.

Pastor Dickow’s Fast from Wrong Thinking
Revolution Day 8:

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says, "I don't have enough." It says, "I don't have enough money. I don't have enough time. I don't have enough friends. I don't have enough experience. I don't have enough education..."

Let’s change it today:

1.      The God-of-more-than-Enough lives in you. Adjust your thinking now. ENOUGH is inside of you. JEHOVAH JIREH—The Lord, the Provider—is in you.

2.     Whatever you SEEM to not have enough of, SOW. If you don’t seem to have enough friends, sow friendship. Proverbs 18:24.   You will reap whatever you sow, in multiplied harvests.

3.     BELIEVE: GOD WILL SUPPLY ALL YOUR NEEDS (Phil 4:19); and the DESIRES of your heart (Psalm 37:4).

4.     Meditate on the power of Jesus HANDS.  When the little boy gave his 5 loaves and 2 fish, he put it in the hands of Jesus...it was multiplied to feed 5000. (John 6:1-14) Whatever seems to be lacking in your life—put in the hands of Jesus—commit to Him, and He will multiply it. Whatever His hands touched was healed, delivered, empowered.

5.     Expect the blessing of God to come upon you AND overtake you. Deut. 28:2 (This “blessing” is your inheritance because of the cross—Galatians 3:13)

6.     Meditate on the words of Jesus: “I have come that you would have life in abundance, to the FULL, till it overflows.” (John 10:10b Amplified)

THINK IT & SAY IT:
The God of more than enough—El Shaddai—lives in me. THEREFORE, I always have enough, God shall supply ALL my needs, according to His riches. My God is more than enough. He fills me to the full, and His blessings overtake me.
He gives back to me, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, in Jesus’ Name!

Daily Lenten Reflection from
St. Michael of Old Town

Wednesday of the First Week of Lent
March 16, 2011

“Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness…A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me.”  Ps. 51: 3, 12

When I was a young girl in elementary school, confession was somewhat of a challenge for me. Not for fear of facing a strange priest or having to reveal something embarrassing about myself, but instead, I struggled with exactly what to confess. I wasn't quite mature enough to understand my wrongdoings, so I often relied on a fictitious confession – “I hit my brother”-- when in actuality, I would never dream of doing such a thing – mainly because he was much bigger than me and my very best friend. But I had heard other students share this wrongdoing as their confession and thought this sounded like something worthy of sharing with the priest.

Now a grown woman, identifying my sins and shortfalls no longer feels like such a challenge. I carry them with me each day and have come to rely on them. They are the string tied around my finger and also to my heart –my reminder of how much I need the Lord at every moment.  My sins make me the human that Jesus loves.

As we journey through this time of Lent, Lord, help us to recognize our sins and use them to draw closer to you in love. Knowing your merciful and kind ways, Father, help us to never hide from You so that we may always feel the joy that is your redemption. Amen.
