Day 11 - Prayer & Fasting - Communication Part II

Today's Scripture Passage: Proverbs 15:23

23 A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word!

Today's Scripture Message:

How many times have you run into a situation where you expect someone “should know” what to do, though you haven’t given them instruction, you assume someone prior to you has? What if every person before you thought as you did and opted not to explain, but to assume prior knowledge, at what point will that person learn if no one took the time to instruct him/her?  How do you expect a specific result, when you did not ask or delegate specifically so you obtain the desired result. Such is with God, while He is All Knowing & All Powerful, he will not impose upon you, honoring your freedom of will.  Invite Him in, state specifically your requests and know in faith, it is done.

Prayer for the day:

Father, I desire improved communication with You. Help me to pray from my heart with gratitude and thanksgiving first and foremost, that my words are a renewed invitation to you as a staple in my heart. Help me to ask specifically of you, speak directly, not only of my needs but my every thought keeping an open dialogue with you at all times, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
"Precision of communication is important, more important than ever, in our era of hair trigger balances, when a false or misunderstood word may create as much disaster as a sudden thoughtless act."

 ~ James Thurber

Goal for the Day
State clearly what is required, delegate according to expectation and know your result is a well directed production.

Pastor Dickow’s Fast from Wrong Thinking
Revolution Day 11:

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says,  “There just isn’t enough to go around—not enough money, not enough jobs, not enough opportunity.”

 Let’s change it today:

1.        Expect abundance. Renew your mind to our God of abundance. John 10:10 says He came to give you life in abundance, to the full, till it overflows.

2.       Expect profusely abounding favor. Luke 4:19 says this is day when salvation and THE FREE FAVORS OF GOD PROFUSELY ABOUND!

3.       Believe in the SAME JESUS as in the Bible. Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever...

4.     His abundance yesterday, and expect it today! He provided more than enough loaves in John 6:1-14; more than enough income in Luke 5:4-7; more than enough healing in Acts 10:38.

5.       Believe in the power of asking. (James 4:2) You have not because you ask not---If there isn’t enough of something in your life, ask God who gives GENEROUSLY (James 1:17).

6.     Be a giver. Know Him as Provider. That’s one of His names: Jehovah Jireh—The Lord your provider!

THINK IT & SAY IT:
I expect abundance today because Jesus came to give me abundant life. He is the God of MORE than enough, and I expect His favor and blessing to profusely abound in my life. He is Jehovah Jireh, and because He loves me, He will provide for my every need, in Jesus’ Name.

Daily Lenten Reflection from
St. Michael of Old Town

Feast of St. Joseph
March 19, 2011

“He shall say of me, ‘You are my father, my God, the Rock, my savior.’” Psalm 89:27
I recall the greeting of my grandfather, “I'm John G. Yates and I'm a born again Christian”…to anyone he was introduced to and anyone who introduced themselves to him; at work, in social gatherings, at the grocery or a casual meeting on the street.  Though he never explained it, he always without fail, stated it exactly in that manner.

As a child, one doesn't think of the “rhyme & reason” of things, but as an adult and mother of three, I find myself remembering the details and the heartfelt meanings of the countless lessons I was exposed to that returned to me in full bloom as an adult.

You see, my grandfather was a quiet man, not at all encompassing the persona of the latter day evangelists.  He was of bi-racial descent during a time when acceptance of his heritage from either of the cultures clearly represented by him in his features was non-existent.  What I remember most is not how he endured the misidentification of his ethnicity, but the significance of his self identification.

In equality to his natural birth name, he owned his birthright as a Christian and though two of my three children were born after the passing of their great grandfather, they know him well as “John G. Yates, the born again Christian.”  Through me, he and his humble representation of Christ lives on, lovingly passed on to my children, hopefully shared with theirs.  Our heritage is a gift received and a gift shared.

Kay Warren

Father, I thank you for the lives and the lessons you have placed along my path; lessons of protection, knowledge, wisdom and purpose.  Help me to always identify with the sanctity of your word. Grant me the courage to always share the knowledge & wisdom you have given me. Capture my heart that it remains humble and forgiving. Guide my voice that the intensity and intent of my heart resonates through my actions, reaching out in representation of you.  In Jesus’ name, I pray.  Amen.
