Don't Expect from Other's What You Do Not Expect of Yourself

Today's Scripture Passage: Romans 13:10-12

10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. 11And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Today’s Scripture Message:
We are to act and react as the model of Jesus Christ within us.  Our Lord God loves us unconditionally and in order to prosper and grow love is our motivator.  When you love you extend care beyond measure to enlighten and improve.  Nothing you love do you wish to wither but to grow and flourish according to their purpose not to do as we have done but to do better.  Be the love and example you want to see.  Family is a community, not just a home. Be the difference where there is a shortfall. Take the hand of the child that is lacking love and show them caring. Look past the exterior and see the heart of the matter…IT MATTERS. How do you change the world? One heart at a time.

 Thought for the Day:

"Learning is finding out what we already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, and teachers."
Richard Bach

Goal for the Day:
Be all that you want to see around you.

Worry & Fear are Anchors that Keep You Focused on the Circumstance

Today's Scripture Passage: Phillipians 4:6-7

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Today’s Scripture Message:
Have you ever known, though everything around you is stirring up a “witches brew”, that if you keep pushing forward, peacefully focused on your purpose you will make it through. More times than I care to acknowledge I have experienced this, the blessing is I am here in witness of the fact that though I suffered though many trials and pit falls, I am still here to share my experience through the word of God that others may find in Him what was gifted to me.  Sure you have days when you are tired, or out of sorts…absolutely there are times when you just have to cry to release, this is part of your humanity.  What makes the difference is that you do not remain in a place that anchors you…that despite what is happening, you find the strength in faith to stand and move forward.  Life will always present opportunities and be assured obstacles will surely show up in multiples when you are close to reaching your goal. If  you can keep your eyes of your heart soaring higher than any impediment you face you will never fixate on the crisis and always see the solution.

Don't Grow Weary, Even When You Feel Your Knees Giving Way"

Today's Scripture Passage: Galatians 5:1

1It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Today’s Scripture Message:
So many times we allow our minds to be in bondage to our past, our present, to others expectations of us, to our falling short of our own expectations of ourselves, not allowing us to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I tell my children so many times everyone makes mistakes, our failures either springboard us to stand, improve and witness, or fall back and be anchored.  I love this statement from Kevin Lyle's which states: "There are three types of people in this world, there are those who watch it happen, those who things happen to and those who make it happen...which one are you?"  - I created my own answer to that question because acting within the fruit of the Spirit dictates we as followers are all of these things we watch to observe, gain knowledge by hearing and understanding, we are humble enough to know faithfully things will happen if we continue to press forward, despite opposition, knowing of the promised victory.

 Thought for the Day:

"You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened... or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move…on."
– Tupac Shakur
Goal for the Day:
Keep in mind nothing can hold you back accept YOU.

Have Joy, Bring Joy

Today's Scripture Passage: Romans 14:17-18

"17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men."

Today’s Scripture Message:
I heard a wonderful phrase this weekend which posed 2 questions that were very profound and wanted to share it with you:  "1. Over your lifetime did you experience joy? 2. Over your lifetime have you been joy for someone else?" This resonated with me because of a message I heard today...You can not be joy for someone else if you are not experiencing joy.  Sure you can help someone else and dedicate yourself to others, but you deteriorate when you don't find joy for yourself as well.  So today may you have all the joy that you seek and may you share that joy with others.

Please pray with me, Father, help me today to care as much for myself as I do for others.  I understand this is not a selfish thought but a way to maintain balance in my life.  Guide me mind, body and soul to reach the potential you have purposed for me that I may be joy and a blessing to others.  I thank you and praise you for the constant encouragement of your word and may you keep me ever reminded of my joy in you, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

It's a Jungle, but You Have an Unfailing Compass to Guide You Through"

Today's Scripture Passage: Proverbs 8:1-21

Wisdom's Call
“ 1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?  2 On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;  3 beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud:  4 To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.  5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding. 6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.  7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.  8 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.  9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.

10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,  11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.  12I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.  13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behaviour and perverse speech. 14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power. 15 By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just;  16 by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth.  17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.  18 With me are riches and honour, enduring wealth and prosperity. 19 My fruit is better than finegold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.  20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,  21 bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full. “

Today’s Scripture Message:

Confusion is the master of failure. Distraction is certain defeat. In adversity and troubled times, keep your head, focus and continue to move forward to reach your goal.  Everyone around you may not understand and may not see things as you do, but when you know in your heart what must be done, continue in faith until there is no question of your intention.  Adversities come 10 fold when you are on the right path. Cement your feet in the wisdom and knowledge of your guide and proceed in courage, faith and joy knowing our Lord is with you and His guidance never fails. In your jungle, He is the compass that will see you through.

Please pray with us, Father, we thank and praise you for this day. We are amidst enemies on all sides and we thank you for allowing our heart to remember all the adversities you've seen us through.  We rejoice in knowing through everything, you our Father hold our hands and guide us through.  We praise you for calming our thoughts and for always directing us to the promises of your Word.  They are our foundation, our faith, our joy, our clarity, our courage and our guide. Thank you for seeing us through troubled times, you have never failed us and we know you never will. Thank you Father for keeping us safe and focused, in Jesus' name, Amen.

That Name is Jesus

Today’s Scripture: John 14:13-17

13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Today’s Scripture Message:

I heard a wonderful message this morning about the power of faith in the  covering we have praying, asking & healing in the name of Jesus.  As with many things we do routinely our prayers end “in Jesus’ name, Amen” but without the conviction of faith behind the binding of that prayer, they are only words. Ending prayer in the name of Jesus is to bring glory to the Father that the works expected become evident as faith is the belief in things unseen. A wonderful explanation of prayer in the name of Jesus is found at bible.org Significance in Prayer in His Name stating:  “The condition of the believer is evidently vital in availing prayer. Obedience is a part of asking “in His name.” But it is not simply a battle to do the Lord’s will that wins answer in prayer. It is not a barter of our good works for what we want in prayer. It is infinitely higher than this. From the teachings in the parting counsels of Christ, we learn that the key to the condition of the believer which corresponds to being “in my name” is found in the ministry of the Holy Spirit and in our abiding in Christ. It is evident that these two features are bound intimately together”. In Matthew 14:28-31 Peter said to Jesus, 28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." 29"Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" A while ago I was told by someone, “Be careful, believing the literal expectation of the word leads to disappointment” but I am a witness, my faithful expectation of the Word of God has never and will never fail me. It is my continence and the reason why, through many trials & turbulent times, I am still here to witness to all that has been evidenced to me according to faithful prayer according to the His word, covered by the blood of Jesus in his name that All Truth be self evident.  Unlike the world, Kingdom truth is exactly what it is TRUTH…not the perception or variation of truth. Glory to God, in Jesus’ name everything done in his name is blessing and His will always be done to His honor.

The Blessing & Love of a Mom

Today’s Scripture: I Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous; is not proud; is not conceited; does not act foolishly; is not selfish; is not easily provoked to anger; keeps no record of wrongs; takes no pleasure in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

Today’s Scripture Message:

Throughout my life I’ve been blessed with the comfort & love of “mom”.  As a young girl, I lost my biological mom when I was in 5th grade, but gained my grandmother as a powerful influence in my life; not replacing the one I lost, simply picking up where she left off and showing me new things…adding to the strength I was already.  When I married,  I gained two wonderful women who were nurturing, loving and supportive who we lost within a two year period August 2008 & July 2009. All of which have handed me pearls of wisdom & gifts of love to be passed on to my children. You see I was blessed the time I was given with each of these women, none perfect but all loving women of God. I remember a bible accompanying each of them and today I honor them all as “mom”.  I thank & praise God for not allowing a decade to pass without the influence of a woman representative of his kingdom that I am now that representative for my family and all who He places in front of me to be that example.  Honor and Blessings to all mom’s for being the gift you are to us.

Thought for the Day:

What Is a Mother?
A mother is someone to shelter and guide us, To love us, whatever we do,
With a warm understanding and infinite patience, And wonderful gentleness, too.

How often a mother means swift reassurance, In soothing our small, childish fears,
How tenderly mothers watch over their children, And treasure them all through the years!

The heart of a mother is full of forgiveness, For any mistake, big or small,
And generous always in helping her family, Whose needs she has placed above all.

A mother can utter a word of compassion, And make all our cares fall away,
She can brighten a home with the sound of her laughter, And make life delightful and gay.

A mother possesses incredible wisdom, And wonderful insight and skill -
In each human heart is that one special corner, Which only a mother can fill!

- Katherine Nelson Davis

Goal for the Day:

Remember you entry to the world, the steps in between and the sacrifices on your behalf .

Focus on What is Right and Be Grateful

Today’s Scripture: Colossians 2:6-7

6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Today’s Scripture Message:

Today I heard a song I’d not heard in years, “Be Grateful” – Walter Hawkins and the resonated so strongly with me I had to share it with you… “God has not promised me sunshine, that’s not the way it’s going to be. But a little rain mixed with God’s sunshine, a little pain…makes me appreciate the good times – Be Grateful”  Nothing but God is perfect. So from time to time, some more than others, we are faced with difficulties. But you also have the Grace and spirit of God to help you through those times if for no other reason than to focus on what you have, more than what you’ve lost. Though the circumstances of the influences that initiated the problems have not changed, the effects of those distractions have.  I found this wonderful statement from inspirational-bible-verses.com that states: “Regardless of life's challenges, we have much to be thankful for. We can have an attitude of gratitude, focus on what is right in our lives and be thankful for those things. We can choose to be thankful for what we have and who God is, as opposed to what we don't have. Let's offer thanksgiving to God in advance for what He is going to do and for the prayers yet to be answered!” Remain focused on the Father, he is always with you doing so removes the anchor of the current circumstance freeing you to move forward.

Thought for the Day:

Hem your blessings with thankfulness so they don't unravel. - Unknown

Goal for the Day:

Express yourself, graciously… “Thank you very much” as well as “Thank you anyway” carries a lot of weight.

Happy 125th Day of the New Year!!!
