A Mile is Walked Step by Step

Today's Scripture Passage: Micah 4:9-10

9 Why do you now cry aloud—have you no king[a]? Has your ruler[b] perished, that pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor? 10 Writhe in agony, Daughter Zion, like a woman in labor, for now you must leave the city to camp in the open field. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued. There the LORD will redeem you out of the hand of your enemies.

Today's Scripture Message:

I had a wonderful conversation with a dear old friend and the one thing that resonated for me was the resilience within each of us to cling to the promises of the Word of God and continue on.  Life for many of us has not been a cake walk at all. The blessing, we are still here, unchanged by our circumstances except for a greater understanding of the favor shown us through it all.  It is easy to sink in the quicksand of all that is hurled at you, but if you do all you can to stand firm holding on to the knowledge of our father within you he will bring you through, no matter what, all he needs you to do is move in faith.

Prayer for the day:
Father, despite all that is exploding around me, I remain focused on you.  I will move fearlessly in faith towards that what you will me to do. I will not change my heart nor remove your promises I know in faith victory is mine, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:

“Victory is won not in miles but in inches. Win a little now, hold your ground, and later, win a little more.”

~Louis L’Amour

Goal for the Day:
Pace yourself. A wall is built brick by brick. Work on placing that 1st brick and keep coming back until it’s complete.

A Faithful Focus

Today's Scripture Passage: Isaiah 43:1-3

1 But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.

Today's Scripture Message:

When you cannot see the forest for all of the trees, close your eyes and revel in the amazement of the clear path mapped out for you. Your attitude determines the direction you are headed. How do you know you are on the right path?... So many things are hurled at you that you can’t see 1 foot ahead of you but this is when you hold on to your faith, praise Him & give him glory and as you feel those burdens falling away from you,  your path becomes clearer and your walk full of purpose.  Keep your peace, cling to your joy, reach as high as you need to, to catch a hold of your faith and never allow it to leave you.  Quiet your spirit and meditate on his word, it is the only assurance (insurance) you need, your claim in His kingdom will never be denied.

Prayer for the day:
Father, I understand I will see many storms and that in these times I am to never take my eyes off of you;  that you are there as a safe refuge from the turmoil reminding me never to lose focus.  My faith is firm and my heart overjoyed as I continue my journey purposed by you. Keep your loving arms around me as I move confidently on your behalf, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
"Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
~Abraham Lincoln

Faith isn't the ability to believe long and far into the misty future.  It's  simply taking God at His Word and taking the next step.
Joni Ericson-Tada

Goal for the Day:
Hold on to your faith and allow only positive things to leave your lips.

Own the Lineage, Create a Legacy

Today's Scripture Passage: Matthew 5:14-16

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Today's Scripture Message:

The greatest honor and the highest praise is given when you share your experience, learned or lived with the generations to come.  At 18 years old, my grandmother entrusted me with the duty of tracing our family heritage on my mother’s side of the family as far back as I could find. At the time, there was no internet or ancestry.com, just a phone and our family.  I began with the eldest members and each call opened up time portals to their experience building a curiosity to keep going as far back as I could.  My journey ended on a plantation in Vacherie, LA, where my ancestors were, after a point, only a number and it brought slavery and what my family experienced during that time, full circle. While I didn’t understand why my grandmother asked me, as young as I was, to do this, in my latter days I have a new appreciation for the efforts of my grandmother and the importance of knowing or collecting the information of our heritage. You see with the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina much of this information would have easily been lost and because of her gifting me the responsibility, and my taking ownership of it, we have documentation of our family that was preserved and can never be separated from us.  Such as with the bible a collection of experiences documented throughout the ages with the purpose of sharing the knowledge of our Christian heritage where as long as we continue to share the messages of God his Word lives on generationally. Our greatest blessing was the protection of our legacy both biologically and spiritually as it continues to lovingly live on through our children.

Prayer for the day:
Father, constantly remind me of my responsibility. That it always honors you and all those you have placed before me on your behalf to teach me, mold me and entrust me to share the many lessons and life experiences represented by your word.  May my voice always resound courageously as a banner of your goodness and keep me safely as your willing servant that my knowledge of you in my life be firmly embedded in the hearts of my children that they continue the work of our ancestors granting the continuation of your greatness in the generations to come, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
I believe that every right implies a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation; every possession, a duty
John D. Rockefeller, Jr.

Goal for the Day:
Remember who you are, the sacrifices made on your behalf, as a man, a woman an American and live within the responsibility to continue to improve.

Showing Up, Even When It's Raining

Today's Scripture Passage: Romans 8:18

18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Today's Scripture Message:

I remember being told many times “You are not promised roses, but you have the ability to plant them, care for them and watch as they bloom”.  Life has never been easy, will never be a hand out more that it will be a rollercoaster ride.  Whatever you are going through, see it through…don’t give up. Think within the solution and begin to fashion your preferred end. Put your requests to prayer and move in the answer to your request.  I never forget the power of Christ within me, that as I move within my day the ground for which I tread is holy and the hand which I reach out with is blessed. Nothing is incident, more than it is intent.  In all that you witness grab the lesson and teach that it is learned more than experienced. You are a vessel with immense output capabilities. Disallow to be weighted down, only you stop you. Know better, trust God and go ahead confidently in your knowledge.

Prayer for the day:
Father, bridle my tongue and remove my haste to complain. I know that all I experience is of you. Some more difficult than others, but I have yet to encounter a circumstance that you have not made to my benefit. I love you, praise you and thank you for your constant presence in my life and look forward on each day as another opportunity to learn in order to share with others your Glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
It is no use to grumble and complain. It’s just as cheap and easy to rejoice; When God sorts out the weather and sends rain – Why, rain’s my choice. ”
James Whitcomb Riley.

Goal for the Day:
Take a stroll on a cloudy day and remember Fred Astaire "Singing in the Rain".

Making a Hard Decision, Easier

Today's Scripture Passage: Colossians 3:12-17

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Today's Scripture Message:

Have you ever been faced with a tough decision and even though you know the answer, it would please you more immediately to “go against the grain”, throw patience and caution to the wind and just fly. While having a conversation with a good friend of mine about this very thing, the one thing that resonated throughout the conversation was the thought…If Christ were sitting in front of me, what would He say? What would His advice be? If He were I, would this be the decision He made…and right away it was clear… “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” Not only is it an answered prayer, but a guarantee that each step you take is fully within focus of God’s intent for your life.

Prayer for the day:
Father, everyday you place in front of me new challenges; some great and some small all encompassing a lesson in life, still providing me the option to reach out to you in guidance. My foundation and its stability is in reverence of my thought of your instruction for my life. Knowing that the decision I have made is pleasing to you and in no way falls outside the bounds of your instruction. Thank you for your careful placement of those in my life who confirm your presence and for never allowing me to stray too far away from your loving arms.  I thank and praise you today and every day, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
Decisions become easier when your will to please God outweighs your will to please the world.”
Anso Coetzer.

Goal for the Day:
Before you make a decision, think in terms of Christ and thank Him.
