Day 21 - Prayer & Fasting - Favor

 Today's Scripture Passage: Joshua 1:3; 6-9

3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses.

6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

8This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Today's Scripture Message:

Every day you are presented with a new opportunity to “get it right”.  Cease the prospect of what you can become if you take the time to work on YOU.  The blessing and the favor of God is tremendous and abundant. He with your permission, can rewrite your existence to fall in line with the true purpose of your life.  What are you waiting for?  What is in you NOW that you should be using to lift yourself and others from the excess of the blessing you have already been granted.  What are you doing opposite of that blessing that is keeping you from its full realization?  Need answers? Find it in His Word, faithfully execute your changes and watch how God not only delivers you, but uses you to lift others.

Prayer for the day:
Father I wake up every day renewed knowing you are with me. Always that warm embrace, listening ear & guiding word. I thank you for the blessings and favor placed over my life and will do all I can, everyday that I am here, to share my experiences in witness of you,  in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
“Great minds have purposes; little minds have wishes.  Little minds are subdued by misfortunes; great minds rise above them.”
~Washington Irving

Goal for the Day:
Do all that you can to improve. Once you have done everything faithfully and you are sure your work is complete to the best of your ability, relax.

Pastor Dickow’s Fast from Wrong Thinking
Revolution Day 21:

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says, “Will I ever have enough?”

Let’s change it today:

1.       Look for a higher vision, not a higher income. (Proverbs 29:18) Live for a cause bigger than your needs and you'll have more than you need.

2.      Listen for God’s guidance for His next step for your life. Where God guides, He provides. (Proverbs 3:5-9).

3.      Stop thinking about money. Remember, God has a million ways He can provide--don't limit Him. (Psalm 78:14).

4.      Don’t allow your current circumstance to dictate your future. Your path is getting brighter and brighter every day. (Proverbs 4:18).

5.      God adds interest to the things that He is interested in! Fling yourself into what moves God's heart, and He will provide. (Matthew 6:33).

6.      Ask God for ideas that will HELP PEOPLE rather than ideas that produce money. And money will come when you're helping people. (Proverbs 19:17).

THINK IT & SAY IT:

I set my mind on God's vision for my life and I believe provision follows vision. God is my provider and is not limited by my current circumstances. I get my eyes off the provision I need, and ON the Provider! I expect ideas and ways to help the hurting, and the things that I need will find me, in Jesus’ Name

Daily Lenten Reflection from St. Michael of Old Town

Tuesday of the Third Week of Lent
March 29, 2011

“That is why the kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who decided to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the accounting, a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount. Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan.  When that servant had left, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a much smaller amount.  He seized him and started to choke him…“   Matthew 18: 23-28

After graduating from college, I began working for a large, very competitive financial services firm here in the city.  There was no shortage of tense project deadlines, and a strict hierarchy within the project teams.  After working three years, I was a team leader, leading a particularly tough project. One evening I received some very stern directives from my boss at how to finish the project (I got yelled at). This meant I had to work the next few days and nights, until the project was done.  Personal life?  Who needs one of those!

My team wasn't to blame, as I had reviewed their work before it went to the big boss.  But since I was suffering, I made them suffer too. I came back in the room and found stupid things to yell at them about.  I had them stay late that evening also, even though there was very little they could do to fix the problems. The next morning, after about 4 hours of sleep, I brought in bagels for the team and apologized for acting that mean last night. We regrouped and delivered the project on time.

Jason Gran

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to realize the moments when I need to forgive rather than act vengefully.  Let me be open to treating my fellow man with compassion as You treat me, a poor sinner.  In your name I pray, Amen.
