Day 16 - Prayer & Fasting - Strength

Today's Scripture Passage: Colossians 1:10-12

10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

Today's Scripture Message:

“I was told today, don’t let anything stand in your way, you are on the right path and because you are certain of your steps everything that can come against you will come to distract your focus, stay on step and let them all be forward letting all else fall at your feet as you move on.”  I thank God for his word and guidance. No matter what it never fails.  Some things have taken longer than others but patience has awarded me much.  I know in this world of “everything right now” patience is fleeting, hold on, don’t give up. Wait for your blessing and keep planting seeds; nothing you do as a Christian is in vein and will produce according to the seed planted.

Prayer for the day:
Father help me to live according to your will for me. I surrender full authority and guidance of my life to you. It is my desire to live in a manner only within your will, accept the open invitation to my heart. I am a vessel for your use, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
“It is for us to pray not for tasks equal to our powers, but for powers equal to our tasks, to go forward with a great desire forever beating at the door of our hearts as we travel toward our distant goal.”
~Helen Keller

Goal for the Day:
Keep moving ahead even when everything around you is trying to pull you behind. Stop for a moment and stand still if you have to, but your next step is always forward.

Pastor Dickow’s Fast from Wrong Thinking
Revolution Day 16:

Today, we’re fasting from the thought that says, “I just don’t make enough money at my job.” While your salary may not be what you would like it to be, THIS IS A WRONG WAY OF THINKING AND MUST BE CHANGED.
Let’s change it today:

1.       Your job is not your ‘source’. God is your source. Philippians 4:19 says, “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches...in Christ Jesus.” Notice, He meets your need according to His riches, not according to your salary.

2.      See your job as your SEED capital. Remember, SEED meets NEED. (Genesis 8:22) THIS THINKING MUST PENETRATE OUR LIVES. Our SEED is what determines our harvest. Our job provides us with seed to sow into God’s Kingdom.

3.      THINK SUPERNATURAL. Don’t let life brainwash you into NATURAL EXPECTATIONS. Believe in the supernatural provision of God. Ephesians 3:20 says God is able to do exceeding abundantly ABOVE AND BEYOND, ALL you can ask or think.

4.      Don’t forget to ASK big, and think big! (Ephesians 3:20).

5.      EXPECT harvests. If you have tithed, sowed, given—you have stored up harvests that will come. Galatians 6:6-9 says “In due season, you shall reap...”.

6.      Expect stolen things restored 7-fold! (Proverbs 6:31-32) Identify money, opportunities or blessings that have been stolen from you by the devil. And demand that he give it back. (Matthew 18:18).

THINK IT & SAY IT:

God’s riches are available to me, as I put Him first in my life. God is my source. I will not be limited by my salary. I expect SUPERNATURAL harvests from all the good seeds I’ve sown. God IS doing beyond what I have asked or thought.  I command all stolen opportunities, money and blessings to be returned to me, in Jesus’ Name!

Daily Lenten Reflection from St. Michael of Old Town
Thursday of the Second Week of Lent
March 24, 2011

“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose hope is the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:7)
On a warm sunny day right before starting fourth grade my friend Randy and I were looking for something to do.  For a long time we had been intrigued with a big old steamer trunk his folks had in the garage.  We decided to do something “really cool” by taking turns locking each other in the trunk!  Randy went in the trunk first and after a few seconds I unlocked the trunk and he came out.  It was then my turn.  He locked me in but he couldn't get the trunk unlocked!  In panic he ran for help.  While he was gone all I had in the midst of the darkness was a very thin ray of light coming through the crack of the lid. I was too scared to do much more than try to keep that ray of light as big as possible. Randy’s dad soon arrived and unlocked the trunk.  Freedom never felt so good. It was short-lived, however, as our parents quickly impressed on us the foolishness of such a summer past time.

Fr. Richard Thibodeau, C.Ss.R.

“God, help me to trust in your loving goodness especially when I get locked into myself and my own problems.  It is at times like that when I shut you and everyone else out of my life.  May I see, even in that sometimes slim ray of hope, that you are there to unlock my fearfulness so that I can walk anew in the light of your love.  Help me to also be to others a light in their dark moments.”
