Day 19 Prayer & Fasting - Letting Go

Today's Scripture Passage: Romans 8:26-28

26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.  28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Today's Scripture Message:

Do not allow your mind to wander off placing time & effort on things that keep you back. Instead let your thoughts be engrossed with all that is purposed FOR you; the promises of His word which are always VICTORY. The solution to any circumstance you are facing…focus only on the aspect of YOUR internal moving force and get moving!!! Nothing outside of what pulls you closer to His purpose for you is worth holding on to. Release what is not for you, hold on tight to the Godly gifts you were given and do not compromise them. That which was granted you is yours forever, the quality of that gift depends on the care you give it. Choose life more abundantly!!!

Prayer for the day:
Father in my time of need, send the spirit to intercede on my behalf. In my times of strength empower me to prayer and intercede on behalf of those in need. Thank you for your care of my heart and soul, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
“Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what holds you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom.”
~Buddah

Goal for the Day:
Find a quiet space and let your thoughts be only what you need to move you forward. Meditate.

Pastor Dickow’s Fast from Wrong Thinking
Revolution Day 19:

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says, “What if God doesn’t meet my needs?” Sometimes our needs are great. And even though on the surface, many of us trust God, there is this gnawing thought at times that God won’t come through for us in difficult times..
Let’s change it today:

1.       He’s your FATHER!  Luke 12:32 says your Heavenly Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.

2.      It’s HIS CHOICE TO BLESS YOU. Fear leaves when you know He has chosen gladly to give you His provision. (Luke 12:32).

3.      He will never break His promise to you, because He CAN’T! (Hebrews 6:19, Joshua 21:45) His track record is perfect. In Psalm 37:25 David said, “...I’ve NEVER seen the righteous forsaken, or his descendants begging bread.”.

4.      SEED meets NEED. Throughout scripture, those who planted seed saw God’s miracle provision. EVEN GOD planted His Son in the earth, and reaped millions of children! (John 12:24) * Plant Word seeds in your heart—Mark 4:14 * Plant financial seed in the kingdom of God—in your church, in a ministry, in a great cause. If you would like to plant seed toward your need now, click here..

5.      He adds and multiplies! Expect addition (Matthew 6:33) AND multiplication (Deuteronomy 1:11) TODAY.

THINK IT & SAY IT:

God is my Father, and He gladly provides for me. It’s His choice to bless me, therefore I will not fear. He keeps His promises to me, in Christ. I expect additional and multiplied blessing to come into my life. I plant seeds to meet needs and I trust God will supply ALL my needs, in Jesus’ Name.

Daily Lenten Reflection from St. Michael of Old Town
Third Sunday of Lent
March 27, 2011
“The LORD answered Moses, “Go out in front of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the LORD saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”."  (Ex. 17: 5-8)

There are a lot of trials of faith throughout life and losing a loved one is probably one of the hardest to understand. A lot of anger, confusion and heartbreak occur when someone who is so close passes and the questioning of ‘why?’ can linger on forever.

One of the most important people in my life when growing up was my grandfather. His name was Isaac and he was definitely a man’s man. He was a man strong in faith, devout in character, respectful in all ways and kind to everyone. My brother and I would spend time with him on his farm in Kentucky and learn everything our young minds could comprehend. He would take us on hikes, teach us about nature, and show us how to care for our parents and relatives (as only a southern man could). More importantly he would help us understand where character and hard work can help lead to a good life, and I try to strive for that often. It was sad for our family to first hear that he had developed Alzheimer’s disease. Seeing a man who had been so strong and powerful in my life being reduced over time to not being able to speak or eat was heartbreaking.

It’s during these testing times of faith when I would wonder “why is this happening right now?” and I would feel like testing the Lord just like the Israelites and asking, “Are you among us or not?” rather than accepting the miracle as God intended. I hope as I move forward in life I'm able to better recognize these moments and appreciate the joy and happiness He has given me and not question why things have turned out a certain way.

God of all-knowing, help me to remember that you are God and I am the disciple. Help me to trust in your plan for me, to recognize the miracles you create in my life, and to appreciate the gifts of people and opportunities that are mine. When “bad things” happen to me and others, help me to know they are not the whole story, but only part of the unfolding of what is yet to be revealed.  Let that acceptance strengthen my faith.  In Jesus’ name, I pray.  Amen.
