Day 34 - Prayer & Fasting - Faith

Today's Scripture Passage: Hebrews 11:1

1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Today's Scripture Message:

You are washed in the blood of Christ.  Renew your mind.  It is your responsibility to affect the world.  The world should not dictate to you how you live, you should dictate by your actions and the change in you the transformation you wish to see in others; you create your circumstance and in faith it will be. Your living is of purpose, not incidental. I was told many years ago, “if you think small expect small things, but if you think big the possibilities are endless.”     Nothing and no one can limit you except you and that process begins in your mind, not the mind of others, YOURS.   Sure external things can pose opposition to what you are striving to accomplish, but see yourself rising higher than that external circumstance…it is ALWAYS beneath you.

Prayer for the day:

Father, I am yours and I accept the challenge. From this moment on, fear will not keep me, doubt will not be a part of me, I know I am intended for the greatness you have instilled in me. I am certain who I am and will never forget the many blessings granted me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
"It’s lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believe in myself.”

 ~ Muhammad Ali

Goal for the Day
Open the doors of your thoughts until your mind’s eye see’s endless opportunity.

Pastor Dickow’s Fast from Wrong Thinking
Revolution Day 34:

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says, “God’s presence will leave me if I sin.” Why is this so important? Because God’s presence is the source of true prosperity. (Genesis 39:1-2).

 Let’s change it today:

1.       We are NOW in God’s presence by the blood of Jesus. (Hebrews 10:19)

2.      His presence NEVER leaves you if you are a born again child of God. (Hebrews 13:5)

3.      Go to your spiritual lawyer when you sin! He will get you a “NOT GUILTY” plea!  1 John 2:1 says, “If we sin, we have an advocate (lawyer, defense attorney) with the Father—Jesus Christ.”

4.      He moves in but never moves out! God lives in you! (1 Corinthians 3:16) His salvation and His presence are gifts. And He doesn’t take them back. (Romans 11:29)

5.      Fall out of love with your feelings! You may feel God has left you, but He cannot break His promise (Hebrews 6:19). We live by what God says, not by what we feel. (2 Corinthians 5:7) Stand in faith and be secure that God is with you!

THINK IT & SAY IT:
By the blood of Jesus, I am in God’s presence and His presence is in me! He will never leave me. Even if I sin, I can go to Him through Jesus Christ and be cleansed and free from all sin. I refuse to live by my feelings, but I live by faith that God is for me, with me and in me, in Jesus’ Name.!

Daily Lenten Reflection from
St. Michael of Old Town

Monday of the Fifth Week of Lent
April 11, 2011

Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side.  Psalm 23: 4ab

I was baptized as an adult and was able to choose godparents and a Confirmation sponsor. I chose the people I did because I cared for them and believed that they were good models of people who followed Jesus.

A time after my Baptism and Confirmation, I began to have some difficulties with my “Confirmation Mother.”  There was misjudgment about my actions. She became jealous of my feelings for others and turned on me.  She began some legal procedures against me which broke my heart, for I knew that I had done nothing wrong except that I was unwilling and unable to respond to her in the way she wanted me to.

It was a dark time for me and a very sad time. I always expected my “Confirmation Mother” and I to be close and caring for each other. The shock of her words and actions left me hurt and confused.  But I trusted in God to stand by me, to help me through those difficult days.

Many years have passed and the hurt has healed. Recently we ran in to each other and I realized how sad and lonely my “Confirmation Mother” really was.  I made it a point to call her up and take her to lunch. We had a good conversation and time together and some of the pain and sadness melted away. I could forgive her, and that was a great blessing to me. For carrying around anger and hatred and ill feelings for another never feels right. It makes those “dark valleys” last longer than they should.

KR

Gracious and loving God, thank you for always being with me. I feel your presence in so many ways in my life: through your Word and Sacrament, through the people you have put into my life.  With you by my side as I walk through the dark valleys of life, I will fear no evil.
