Today's Scripture Passage: Proverbs 10:22-32
22 The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it. 23 A fool finds pleasure in evil conduct, but a man of understanding delights in wisdom. 24 What the wicked dreads will overtake him; what the righteous desire will be granted. 25 When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.
26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is a sluggard to those who send him. 27 The fear of the LORD adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. 28 The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. 29 The way of the LORD is a refuge for the righteous, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.
30 The righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not remain in the land. 31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut out. 32 The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.
Today's Scripture Message:
I learned the hard way, to simply say “God Bless You”, no matter what. You get so drawn into the poor intentions of others that you get lost in the drama of the garbage when you are intended for the glory of the present. Who are you allowing to take your joy? Who are you awarding power to that does not deserve it? Who are you serving? Even if it is someone you love and their intent for you is not according to your commitment, let go…let God & simply say “God Bless You”. Take possession of your life and in the words of a dear friend “Find your peace” knowing your intention was good, own your goodness and allow all else to fall by your side. Your life is a conversion to His kingdom, never lose sight of your proper place.
Prayer for the day:
Father, keep me that I may stay firm in your word. My desire is always in service to you and while others may not understand it, I remain focused on you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thought for the day:
“As I started to picture the trees in the storm, the answer began to dawn on me. The trees in the storm don’t try to stand up straight and tall and erect. They allow themselves to bend and be blown with the wind. They understand the power of letting go. Those trees and those branches that try too hard to stand up strong and straight are the ones that break. Now is not the time for you to be strong, Julia, or you too, will break.”
~ Julia Butterfly Hill
Goal for the Day:
If you have to cry, cry – If you have to scream, scream…but once you’ve gotten it all out and are done – be Done.

Pastor Dickow’s Fast from Wrong Thinking
Revolution Day 29:
Today we’re fasting from the thought that says, “I’m not that good with money.”
Let’s change it today:
1. YES YOU ARE. You ARE good with money! You are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) AND you’ve been given 1600 scriptures about money! You are equipped!.
2. Don’t think ‘good’. Think ‘faithful’. God’s economic system is built upon faithfulness. Luke 16:11—faithful with the little, and you will be faithful with much.
3. It’s a test. It’s only a test. Don’t see money as just a means to pay your bills. See money as a test. When you change how you look at it—as a test—you will find a way to pass the test, and move on to the true riches God wants to give you. (Luke 16:12).
4. Expect abounding blessings. Proverbs 28:20 says a faithful man will abound with blessing. If you’re not abounding, check your faithfulness in tithing, giving, and serving.
5. Think K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Saint! Simplify your financial life. Put God first by tithing & offering; then, spend less than you earn after that; then save what’s left. (John 2:5) Don’t complicate it.
THINK IT & SAY IT:
I am made in the image of God and have the wisdom of God. I am good with money—in fact I am better than good; I am faithful! I will pass the money test by being faithful, and I will be trusted by God with true riches. I expect to abound in blessing and be overtaken by it, in Jesus’ Name!
Daily Lenten Reflection from St. Michael of Old Town
Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Lent
April 6, 2011
Thus says the Lord: in a time of favor, I answer you; on the day of salvation, I help you; and I have kept you and given you as a covenant to the people…saying to the prisoners: Come out! To those in darkness: Show yourselves! (Isaiah 49: 8a, 9a)
Last summer, I experienced one of the darkest days and many of the darkest weeks of my life. My only brother and I were playing golf and on the 4th hole, he went into cardiac arrest. I immediately began CPR but then had to stop to call 911. I realized my brother was on an incline and another golfer helped me to move him to level ground where I continued working on him. It was nearly 15 minutes before the paramedics arrived to take over and get him to the hospital.
I was traumatized. My wife had just left earlier that morning for a 2 week trip visiting her daughters and their families. I felt so alone. It was very scary.
As the days went on, many medical interventions had to happen. Bob was on a respirator, lots of machines hooked up to see what his heart was doing, and so on. He didn't seem to know anything that was happening. His friends, my friends and relatives came to support me. It was a very dark time. Every time I was with him, I would pray the Our Father, hoping that the familiar words would spark something in him, but knowing at the same time that they sparked something in me. They were words that gave me the courage and ability to believe he would be well again, but not my will but God’s be done.
The prayers of so many worked. It was like the Scripture: we kept encouraging Bob to wake up! Come out of there, Bob, where ever you are. Show yourself! And he woke up. We were not home free, but Bob was going to live and have a real life. The medical personnel were amazed; they had held out little hope for his recovery to any great extent. Because of the long time he was deprived of oxygen, he has sustained some brain injury. But we are grateful that he is able to still enjoy life and be with us. Very grateful.
