Today's Scripture Passage: Phillippians 4:6-7
29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Anger by definition is: A strong feeling of displeasure or hostility. 2 A feeling of great annoyance or antagonism as a result of some real or supposed grievance; rage; wrath. To succumb to anger is crippling; angry words - deafening. Remember the phrase "If you have nothing good to say, say nothing"? or "Act responsibly, not reactively..." The power of words spoken and their influence - as well as the choice to react v/s sound action, good or bad...is moving, many times with a rippled effect. Prudence of self control, though many times silent - speaks volumes. Humanly, by composition we are emotional creatures and our control over those emotions is an individual responsibility. To give in to anger as to remain composed are options we all have, choose wisely...as we are the reflections, as Christians, of Christ who dwells within us - a position which should always be properly represented.
Thought for the Day:
“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”
– Prince Gautama Siddharta
Goal for the Day:
Reconcile your anger. Be the initiator of peace and regardless of the response, own your action of serenity and allow healing to commence.
Happy 313th Day of the New Year!!!
