Making a Hard Decision, Easier

Today's Scripture Passage: Colossians 3:12-17

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Today's Scripture Message:

Have you ever been faced with a tough decision and even though you know the answer, it would please you more immediately to “go against the grain”, throw patience and caution to the wind and just fly. While having a conversation with a good friend of mine about this very thing, the one thing that resonated throughout the conversation was the thought…If Christ were sitting in front of me, what would He say? What would His advice be? If He were I, would this be the decision He made…and right away it was clear… “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” Not only is it an answered prayer, but a guarantee that each step you take is fully within focus of God’s intent for your life.

Prayer for the day:
Father, everyday you place in front of me new challenges; some great and some small all encompassing a lesson in life, still providing me the option to reach out to you in guidance. My foundation and its stability is in reverence of my thought of your instruction for my life. Knowing that the decision I have made is pleasing to you and in no way falls outside the bounds of your instruction. Thank you for your careful placement of those in my life who confirm your presence and for never allowing me to stray too far away from your loving arms.  I thank and praise you today and every day, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the day:
Decisions become easier when your will to please God outweighs your will to please the world.”

Goal for the Day:
Before you make a decision, think in terms of Christ and thank Him.
