Today's Scripture Passage: Proverbs 22:17-21
17Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, 18For it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. 19So that your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you. 20Have I not written thirty sayings for you, sayings of counsel and knowledge, 21teaching you to be honest and to speak the truth, so that you bring back truthful reports to those you serve?
Today’s Scripture Message:
The best gift given is one that costs nothing, except the lesson it presented, and is then passed on. How do we ensure the foundation of our legacy? By sharing the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of our living in reflection of the Word of God to those who precede us that their foundations be strong and they grow to build bigger and better things on the strength of the foundation provided them. Not until I was an adult did I understand the beauty of the values of what I was taught by my parents and grandparents. That, though it was passed along without explanation, as I grew older, I found more and more biblical principal wrapped firmly around all I was told and taught. Though our childhoods are not at all perfect, but perfectly purposed to shape our adult existence, it is the lesson of our living that allows us insight into who we are, granting us the wisdom, knowledge & understanding to pass along to our children and others. I watch now as my children, attend church and Sunday school with me and smile remembering the days we’d go as kids and the brunch/breakfast that followed and many times, though many of my immediate family have since passed on, as I sit in the pews of the church, feel them sitting with me in my Father’s house and smile as I think…I have not & will never forget you and the love you provided. That it is permeating through my home, through my kids and will live on in theirs. Though they were too young to remember you themselves, they will remember you through me and love you as much as I do, such is my Father and Savior.
Father, I thank you for the guidance of your word, the foundation I stand firmly on, and the knowledge to continue your legacy in my family that you live on in us. I have not & will never forget you, your sacrifice for me and the love you provide. May everyday be in praise of you, in Jesus' Name, Amen
