Humility Provides a Teachable Spirit

Today's Scripture Passage: Deuteronomy 8:2-3 20 And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has let you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you , testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. ........................................................................................................... Today’s Scripture Message: Have you ever received a message in several different ways from several different sources (one not associated with the other). If you have then you can appreciate my excitement and joy of the reaffirming nature of Our Father when I share this with you… This past Sunday, our Pastor asked our Church (St. Michael’s), to read and reflect on the word of God Daily; where it alone spoke to my heart as I recently continued writing each weekday in The Daily Covering. Now, as I ran around today to “put out fires” and cover bases, with our program and many other things, I was racing back to write today’s message (which was something completely different by the way) when Nancy Leigh DeMoss of Revive Our Hearts, came on the Moody Broadcast and told a story about dehydration and the body’s need for water. Her point was a Christian Body that is spiritually dehydrated, without taking the time to nourish the spirit with the water of the Word of God daily. This reaffirmed my reason for wanting to share the Word of God through The Daily Covering for the last four years, Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them” and the vision of my heart to share the presence of our Lord with everyone who’s eyes meet his word as we pray together all over the world. How humbling knowing as we pray and focus on His Word, there he is with us blanketing our world with his love, grace and blessings. Needless to say, I happily accept the change in today’s message and share it with you. Humble and open your hearts, and quench the thirst of your spirit with the soothing water that is His Word and then share it with as many others as you can. ........................................................................................................... Prayer for the day: Father, thank you for the gifts you have given each one of us, the sacrifice of our Savior, the grace and mercy which makes way to our ability to offer the very gifts you gave us to help others. Remind us that each breath we take is life, not only ours, our purpose & usefulness, but for the benefit of the work of your kingdom. May we continue to study, live and share the Good News of our Savior, Jesus Christ, in His Magnificent Name, Amen. ......................................................................................................
